EDD CO.

This sign was taped on Dwight and Cosette's door yesterday. It seems they are starting a new company and they just informed me that I work for them.

The company's name is EDD CO.

"We sell electric stuff such as light bulbs, TVs, electric toys and possibly anything you could imagine that's electric!" said Dwight G. Hein Co-Owner of EDD CO.

If you come to Billings, MT, Dwight said they "will give you a tour...of their bedrooms." :)

Dwight: So then Quasimodo goes to the graveyard where Esmeralda is buried and digs up her bones and stays with her until he finally dies too. Because he loved her so much... Isn't that sad?

AJ : That is a sad story.

Cosette: Wow, I can't believe that. He must have really, really loved her.

A conversation I overheard this morning while Dwight, Cosette and AJ were eating breakfast.
Thank you classical education for giving Dwight such enthusiasm for reading the classics in the 2ND grade. I'm one happy mother.

Cosette made me a beautiful necklace out of clay beads. Once the beads were dry, she painted them all by herself. I love it. It looks like spring!

It's fun to play at the YMCA!

AJ and I went to the YMCA today. It was open gym and completely free.


AJ really enjoyed running around for an hour and a half.

AJ loved the Zip Line. He loved it so much that I'm sure he did it at least 25 times. I'm not sure. I lost count after awhile.

Garrison

This morning Gregg and I went to what we thought would be Garrison's last IEP meeting (Individualized Education Program) at West High School. It made me sad and afraid and anxious. What will Garrison do after high school? Will he be able to get a job? Will he enjoy it? Is he as scared as I am right now? Garrison's future can easily consume my thoughts. Worrying comes with the territory I think, when you have a child with special needs. I know I don't have all the answers. I often wish I did. While all these thoughts were racing through my head at the IEP meeting, this happened:
As the teachers were going around the table discussing Garrison's strengths and weaknesses, the tech essentials teacher made a comment that gave me instant comfort. "One day Garrison was typing like crazy on the keyboard so I went over and looked at the computer screen and well, you must all read the Bible at home, because he was typing from memory what I think were complete chapters from the Bible. I'm not really sure since I don't read mine as much as I probably should." To which another teacher said, "Obviously . . ." While the teachers were laughing at that last comment, I suddenly felt so much better. Garrison loves written words. Garrison especially loves the most important written word-God's Word. Garrison's is a child of God. He's in God's hands today and in the future. Why worry?

*Just a side note: The meeting took an interesting turn. Everyone agreed after hearing all the reports from the teachers and the information gathered from the latest testing that Garrison did, that high school for another year would be a good fit. There is more the staff at West would like to accomplish with Garrison next school year.

A Funny Thing or Two Happened on the Way to the Airport

Last night, Dwight, Cosette and AJ came with me to pick up Gregg from the airport. I heard several interesting conversations while I was driving in the car. Here are a few of the highlights:

Dwight: I would never want to live in the country.
Me: Why?
Dwight: Pickpockets

Cosette: Wow, look at all those planets!
Dwight: Those are street lights, Cosette.

Dwight: Mom, how do you see while you're driving at night?
Me: The car has headlights.
Dwight: Whoever invented the car was a genius!
AJ: Well, it wasn't me!

Before Gregg left for his business trip this week, he poked his head in the car and told Dwight, Cosette and AJ to be good. AJ replied, "I'll be good, but he won't and she won't," pointing to Dwight and Cosette. Time will tell---
