Garrison's First Cantus Concert
Last night, along with about 30 other young men, Garrison had his first choir concert. As I sat in the audience and listened to him sing, it hit me. In Garrison's 17 years of living, this was the first public performance ever. No wonder he was "over the moon" excited to be there and equally thrilled that his family was in the audience watching him. (He reminded me of the concert every hour of every day for the last two weeks!) Autistic or not, you could see Garrison was truly proud of himself and even prouder to be part of a singing group! After the concert I told Garrison, "I'm so proud of you Garrison. When I watched you sing tonight, you moved me to tears." "I made tears for you, mom. I'm sorry", he replied. I don't think he fully understands the concept of "tears of joy" but he better get used to them. I'm sure I'll shed many more in the future.

Good job, Garrison. I bet you didn't even get nervous or forget a word.
And DeAnn, this is one reason we love you - because you're a good mom. Oh, and because you're terribly sarcastic.
