Friday, May 26, 2017 ( Also known as Last Day Of Home School!!!)
7 AM Cosette and I grabbed donuts for breakfast. I mean, why not? It's the last day of school and the donuts were free! (Of course, we eat donuts for all kinds of other special occasions: birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, cleaning the bathroom days, rainy days-You name it, we'll eat donuts.)
8 AM Every morning, Monday through Friday, Garrison waits patiently for the bus to take him to work at COR. He works in the wood shop and loves it. He also loves to listen to Glenn Beck. So instead of blasting it through the whole house, he listens on his portable radio. It's a win-win!
9 AM Last Day of School pictures of the kids.
Dwight-finished 9th Grade
Cosette-Finished 7th Grade
AJ-Finished 5th Grade
10 AM I've never been a "Laundry Day" type of person. I just tend to do loads of laundry whenever the spirit moves me. The only exception to this rule is Bedding. Every Friday I wash all the bedding. Those sheets aren't going to clean themselves. (Side Note-I heart Birkenstocks and pedicures from Cosette. :) )11 AM Every year on Memorial Day Sunday, we have a Luther On Tap BBQ. It requires a lot of patience, planning, cooking, cleaning, etc. So today, I'm in the planning stage. I'm thankful Gregg is such a great host at these BBQs. He puts the "party" in "party" or something like that.
NOON-ish After lunch, Cosette and I got comfortable on the couch to edit her final paper for Paideia B at Wittenberg Academy. Five to Seven page papers can be overwhelming for students (and their mothers) but I am so thankful for Mrs. Cockran. (Cosette's teacher) She is a tough teacher but an excellent one. Cosette has learned so much about history and writing and grammar.
1 PM Since school is finished, I organized our school room. It felt good to clean up the messes and get a few things filed away until next school year. I'm not really a year round homeschooling mom. I need the break. Sure, we keep learning and do some review in Math and Reading and Latin throughout the summer, but our schedule is more relaxed. It works for us.
2 PM Today was gorgeous so a walk was just what I needed. Actually, the kids and I try to walk everyday weather permitting. We consider it our recess. It's my favorite time of the day.
7 PM Fast forward a few hours to Friday Movie Night. I love that even as Dwight, Cosette and AJ get older, they still enjoy hanging out together. Tonight's movie pic: Tron
10 PM Today Gregg's dad, Keith would have been 80 years old. Keith said when he turned 80, he would smoke a cigar and drink some Scotch with Gregg. Sadly, he died back in 1995, but Gregg kept his promise and smoked a cigar in honor of Keith. It was a lovely ending to a beautiful Friday.

Love this peek into your life! I love that your family started the day with donuts and ended with a cigar. :)
Do you have a favorite place you order your Birks from?
Donuts, walks, hanging out, Scotch and cigars make for a great end of your school year.
And I love that Garrison loves Glenn Beck.
Oh that last picture warms my heart. <3
Mine too, Jeni. :)
I often order my Birks off of EBay. Reasonable prices and really unique styles and colors. :)
I love that Garrison loves Glenn Beck too. He also loves Rush. :)
I feel like everyday should start and end that way sometimes. ;)
