While taking Garrison's first day of school pictures outside this morning, I noticed a hawk sitting on our fence. That's odd, I thought to myself (and a little creepy-I blame Edgar Allan Poe and Alfred Hitchcock). As I was going back inside, I noticed a little injured bird in our yard hobbling along the sidewalk. Now, it all made sense. 1 injured bird + 1 large Hawk=breakfast for the Hawk. Wanting to avoid the fate that was sure to happen right in my backyard,I did what any brave mother would do. I summoned McKenna (a girl I watch everyday before school and a true wannabe Iowa farm girl since she visits her grandparents there every summer) and asked her to move the bird to the alley right behind our house. Not more than 10 seconds later, the hawk swooped down and met it's breakfast. It was an awesome sight to watch. I screamed. Cosette cried. Dwight shouted "survival of the fittest" and AJ laughed. Just another typical day at the Hein house.

What a circus. I wish I could have been there.
I was just thinking the exact same thing as Lauren! So much fun so early in the day!
